Despite the complex’s historical land use, the site still supports approximately 360 hectares of remnant vegetation. The BEMP works to provide DTIS with advice pertaining to the preservation of known conservation values without inhibiting the current use of the site as a shooting complex or intruding on the rights of lease holders.
The initial phase of the project involved a detailed desktop assessment. The assessment aimed to determine the presence or absence of environmental values through the cross-reference of Queensland Government resources, with resources including Government generated reports and overlay maps.
