Monto Coal Mine Prefeasibility Study

Client: Monto Coal Pty Ltd on behalf of Macarthur Coal

Lambert & Rehbein was commissioned by Monto Coal Pty Ltd on behalf of Macarthur Coal to undertake the Prefeasibility Study of the Monto Coal Mine. Further to development of the project and outcome of the study, the project progressed to a feasibility study with likelihood of expansion for future stages of investigation.

The mine site is located on the Burnett Highway approximately 13 kilometres south of the Monto Township.The major works undertaken by Lambert & Rehbein within the feasibility study are for the site infrastructure components include-

  • Coal haulage transport, including rail connection with the existing Monto Rail line;
  • Accommodation of construction and operational staff;
  • Water management and sewerage systems;
  • Power distribution and lighting;
  • Controls and communications;
  • Mine Infrastructure area (MIA) facilities; and
  • Capital cost estimate

Scope:

  • Prepare concept design documentation for all the major infrastructure components;
  • Identify key project developments and initiatives;
  • Prepare quantities for the major infrastructure components of the development;
  • Provide project development support;
  • Development of a schedule for the work;
  • Progress against schedule;
  • Cost report.
